Upcoming events, lectures, services, activities, etc...STAYING SAFE ONLINE WITH BRETT LEE
Saturday 7th September 2019
3:00pm - 5:00pm St Haralambos Lower Church Hall, Cnr Porter St & Church Rd, Templestowe
The Parish of St Haralambos is very excited to announce a special guest speaker at our September PreTeen and Teen youth group on Saturday 7th September.
Brett Lee, is considered one of the country’s experts in online child safety after his experience as a Police Officer for 22 years, 16 of which he worked as a detective in the field of Child Exploitation. Brett has been personally involved with the interview, location, arrest and prosecution of hundreds of online criminals and predators.
In his investigative role, Brett spent years and thousands of hours using the internet under the guise of fictitious children and adults, both male and female. This unprecedented view of the online world enables Brett to view the cyber world through the eyes of a child yet stand back and process this experience with the mind of an adult.
We are proud to offer our community the expertise of such a reputable speaker to help tackle this important issue facing our youth and families.
We will be running two separate sessions for preteens and teens, and you are welcome to attend one or both of these talks. The two sessions will run one after the other and parents are encouraged to stay for the talks, to also be informed about these important topics.
Following the talk we will have a communal bbq dinner in the lower church hall with all families who have attended, allowing the conversation to keep going, and giving the youth an opportunity to socialise.
We ask all attending families to bring a plate to contribute to the dinner, and as this is a paid speaker, any donation towards this event is welcome.
Please click here to download the flyer to distribute to your Fellowships, Church noticeboards, or friends and family.
