The Saturday School of St John’s Greek Orthodox College in Preston would like to invite you to the end of the year celebration. This year, the students of the Saturday School will perform the Greek cultural play “Ο Ήλιος Ο Ηλιάτορας” (“The Sun, the Sovereign Sun”). This Greek literature jewel, composed by Odysseas Elytis, demonstrates the nature of the struggles that Greece has faced throughout its rich and unique history.
The celebration will be held in the recently completed, state of the art Gymnasium of the College.
We are looking forward to seeing you all there to enjoy the cultural beauty of Greece.

Visit the Monastery and get the chance to meet new people, browse the book/giftshop, share a communal meal, seek spiritual advice, see the animals & help our Sisters with some outdoors chores.
Tasks include light cleaning & gardening. Please bring a packed lunch, gloves & suitable work clothes. Plus a raincoat just in case.
Car pooling option is available at St Haralambos carpark by 9am (carpool) OR arrive at the Monastery by 10am to start work at 10:30am.

The CYC plans to organise various events during the Summer break for Orthodox Singles who are 30 years old or over...
The purpose behind this initiative is to provide opportunities for singles who are committed to the Orthodox faith to meet and get to know one another in a friendly atmosphere.
The events will be held each fortnight, and possible functions include: Dinner and Coffee, Film nights, Picnics, Day trips... Date of Commencement: The first event is likely to be held in early December.

This event is in aid of the construction of the Cemetery Church of the Resurrection of Lazarus at Bunurong Memorial Park.

George Halkias has dedicated his 15 year career to supporting the most marginalised and vulnerable people in the community. He has:
- managed a statewide government service for victims of crime.
- developed the street soccer programme that since 2005 has been helping homeless people improve their physical and psychological well-being through football.
- coached and co-ordinated Australian representative teams in 5 Homeless World Cup tournaments.
- was instrumental in formulating the winning bid to bring the 2008 Homeless World Cup to Melbourne.
- involved in spreading the street soccer programme across Australia including in prisons and areas of disadvantaged & indigenous communities.
In his talk, George will share many inspirational stories about his experiences, the lessons he has learned from working with people facing adversity and explain just what motivates him to make a difference in the community.

Bacchus Marsh Picnic Day and Paraklesis in English

St Paraskevi Fellowship Group has organised a picnic day at the Greek Orthodox Parish of "Our Lady the Merciful" in Bacchus Marsh on the Labour Day public holiday. The group will be meeting at St Paraskevi church carpark at 10 am and carpooling to Bacchus Marsh. There will also be the option of a 12 seater minibus for those who are without transport. Father Demosthenes will be serving an English Paraklesis at Our Lady the Merciful Parish, assisted by chanting from the St Paraskevi Choir, a small group of ladies from the Fellowship Group. Everyone is invited to attend. Please bring your own picnic lunches to enjoy at the beautiful church grounds.

Blessing of the Waters - Theophania
12:30pm - 1:30pm Station Pier, Port Melbourne
The Blessing of the Waters at Station Pier, Port Melbourne. A combined celebration for all Parishes in Melbourne celebrated by His Grace Bishop Ezekiel of Dervis together with all the Clergy of Melbourne.
This will be followed by an afternoon of music & dancing. Also, food and drink will be available at the Pier together with a variety of other stalls.
